Details
This incredible block of briar took an entire year to be fashioned into a pipe. Its size and breath aside, the perfect oval shank and long bending parallel lines aren't something that can be done in just one session. Briar this clean and well articulated are rare enough, but David's ease at bringing the shape to life with an astounding use of orientation to enhance the biconvex curves is nothing short of awe inspiring. Note how the birdseye wraps along the entirety of the underside while peeking through at just the right spot behind the bowl, accentuating the the scope of swell and precise shape. Having spent time in the finest workshops in the world, it's no surprise that David has perfected techniques for finishing smooth pieces with the consistency of glass. Nothing short of spectacular, this champion smoker is a generational prize.
