Jesse and David started talking about this collaborative handmade pipe back in 2019 just before the pandemic brought on by Covid-19. Spending some time together in the workshop led to the idea and carefully shipping the pipe back and forth between Ohio and North Carolina over several years finally led to the creation of this high-contrast smooth. The volcano shape of the bowl is a breathtaking canvas for the radial straight grain perfectly oriented and the channel cut into the back, right side of the bowl flows from the rim and winds underneath with a plump swell of briar covered in birdseye along the bottom. The ridges on which the pipe sits are covered at the tip with plateau and the whole thing is built with five knuckles of bamboo shank. Most impressive of all is the attention to not just the visible details, like the sculpted saddle or the individual casing of each nodule on the bamboo, but the remarkably smooth draw that this heirloom smoker has with a polished draft that will do well with any genre of tobacco. An outstanding specimen of hand crafted briar, this American handmade is stamped by both pipe makers and is another incomparable example of both their artistic skills.
