Details
Sleek and elegant, this modern blowfish is so cleverly designed that the amount of separate panels are difficult to count as it seems to be different each time we try. The high-contrast smooth finish is mesmerizing display of dense cross-grain oriented to frame each side of the pipe in perfect birdseye. Reinforced at the mortise with brass the consummately shaped shank provides some interesting elongation in the exposed ring. A sculpted saddle ring reflects the curved panel's points while the whole piece proves that David's work has graduated to a level where symmetry is just a plaything. Not too big and not too small the conical chamber is perfect for smaller ribbon cuts and virginias though any blend will do well in this superbly crafted and generationally appreciated heirloom briar.
