Details
This is what happens when Nate is left alone in his workshop for too long - he starts playing around with the traditional shapes, borrowing from other, long established schools of past shaping canons; a master craftsman with an eye for design and proportion, borrowing a little from the old Italian masters, takes a bulldog, widens its shank with a top and bottom panel instead of a seam, and reworks the tall bowl with considerations for preferences of the modern smoking era. The result is this compelling rhodesian with double bead and a strong protruding chin fitted with a limited edition stock of an ebonite brindle stem in swirling colors of sand against slate. All too often great shapes are over shadowed by dramatic colors and textures, but as often the case when Nate is left to his own creations, this piece is only further enhanced by color and tone.
