Details
This "Scottie" straight pot, from Kansas City carver, Scottie Piersel, is finished in a superb contrast blast that has been slightly polished to highlight the dynamic tones of light and dark revealing both the growth rings and straight grain inherent to the briar. The canted bowl is marvelously thick in the walls granting a sweet-spot sized chamber versatile enough to enjoy with almost any kind of tobacco. Like all of the "Scottie" pipes, there is a steel tube running through the shank that makes this thin composition several times stronger than a standard briar pipe. Stemmed with an off-white and hand cut piece of Juma, this smooth drawing and American handmade looks to be both roughhewn and sophisticated.
