Charl's overriding influence can be hard to pin down. We have seen him make beautifully proportioned English classics, but he is equally at home with a more contemporary aesthetic. This large sandblast, bamboo apple is a little bit of both. Scaled up from many similarly styled Danish and American pieces, this capacious apple has a gentle yet very distinct sandblast finish reminiscent of antique leather. Crowned with a smooth rim and adorned with two, clean knuckles of bamboo, Charl has once again proven his versatility as South Africa's best carver.
