Yorgos Mitakidis Pipe 9423 Tomato with Brindle

Unfortunately our photographing skills are not as spectacular as the pale finish on this straight tapered smooth from Yorgos Mitakidis.  These pictures don't do justice to the gorgeous hues of the bright wood juxtaposed to a classic red brindle stem.  We attribute this shape to the late Italian master carver, Paolo Becker, and Yorgos has made it a regular part of his repertoire, but this specimen is particularly well executed with a tucked transition and perfectly proportioned bowl with just the right amount of cant forward.  Graceful lines and many, many hours of sanding allow the straight grain orientation to really show off the briar and if you look closely, you can see where the plateau has kissed the underside of the shank and recognizing this pipe's perfect proportions, Yorgos chose to incorporate it into the stem.  Bravo!
