Generously pale and absolutely stunningly grained, this bent volcano from Bill has a round saddle of fordite incorporated into its flawless design. Not only is the grain orientation spectacular (check out the birdseye on the bottom panel and tell me that isn't spectacular!), but the rarity of a briar this naturally pale never ceases to get my heart racing, let alone free of any flaws warranting a smooth finish from a carver of Bill's caliber. Gloriously glamorous, this heirloom piece is just another example of the soaring skills in the American pool of artistic talent working in pipes today.
