Large and very bent, this Aldo Velani Grande is indeed completely bent making resting the large bowl from the jaw a fairly easy proposition. The diagonal insert of briar into the acrylic stem is a nice touch and the stummels carved pattern resemble other Italian makers finishes offering a cool surface to the touch while in use. There is some darkening at the rim and a coating of sodium silicate has been added to cover some discovered charring in the conical chamber, but this impressive Italian bent is still in outstanding condition and longs to be slipped slowly for hours at a time.
