Michail Kyriazanos Pipe Classic Billiard

First, the shape - deceptively simple and yet perfectly executed.  No slop here as every line and curve is exactly where it was meant to be.  Intentionally classic and purposely functional, the exact symmetry is no small feat, and exceptionally executed.  Second, the grain - deeply dense, distinct and nebulous cross grain patterns radiate through the entire piece with thick swaths of birdseye wrapped around both sides.  A single patch of straight grain covers a patch running completely around the stummel from top to bottom.  Finally, the finish - while grain and shape make up much of what we love about pipes, at this level of mastery it's the finish that makes this worth every penny.  Smooth and highly contrasted, there is no way to hide imperfections as every micro detail of the briar is exposed and celebrated.  When done this well, even a dark finish is scintillating with a radiating incandescence that seems to come from inside the pipe itself.
