Russ Cook (2019 Make) Sandblast Hawkbill Estate Pipe

First, there's the finish on this Russ Cook hawkbill estate pipe.  Sandblasted to reveal and cascading patter of growth rings dressed in black, the crisp details are exquisite, even to the purists who insist their smokers be smooth.  Left polished at the rim of the large bowl, this hawkbill has a oval shank with a seam on both sides and a late bend towards the tapered stem to accentuate the curve of the shank.  We are especially impressed with the straight taper of the stem, giving the pipe the look of a an extra bit of length.  There is some minor inner rim darkening in the bevel into the large bowl and a very minor toothmark on top shoulder of the button, but this American handmade is still in outstanding condition and comes with its original sleeve.
